My pumpkin for this year was simple as I had a lot going on but still made with love. 🎃😸
Happy Halloween everyone!

Resident Evil 0 (PS4)

Started playing this way before the remake rumours started 😅 Always love pre-rendered/fixed camera angle horror & 2 person protagonist was fun, but the story was lame, puzzles fine and have always hate the limited inventory space - it's worst here! Not my fav of the series.

Heretic

Excellent movie; cracking script, all the actors are wonderful, and whilst I agree the 2nd half isn't AS strong, I still think the ending worked. The message they were going for, and Hugh Grant's character came together in the end.

K-Pop Demon Hunters

FINALLY GOT ROUND TO IT 😅 It was a lot of fun! Music was great, animation spectacular and yes the plot was a little rushed towards the final act, but the story and emotional stakes all worked. Lots of potiential for a sequel.

Helluva Boss Seasons 1 & 2

I was ready to drop this show in early S1 when the plot wasn't going anywhere, but then it picked up and I ended it enjoying it a lot more. Good animation, cracking voice cast, and look forward to seeing what S3 brings.

I saw this in Sainsbury’s the other day. So does it mean that it’s an empty box?

Clock Tower Rewind (PS4)

Really glad I finally got to play this classic! Timeless visuals, iconic music, and good panic-style horror. Can get a bit mechanical when going for the endings but still a great game. Also loved the disc extras such as the motion comics.

Lisa Frankenstein

I wanted to like this more than I did; fun story idea, actors all really good and some good comedy but felt the plot/writing needed more time in the oven to make all the themes and emotions come together to work for a good finale

Wednesday S2

I liked the plot overall, the comedy was good and actors all fantastic, but the plot was very fast paced and didn’t allow anytime to breathe, eg the raven villain was dealt with off screen. Hope S3 learns from its mistakes

The Locked Door (novel)

Again, good tension through the story, but the villain reveal was a bit lame - making them very ‘mhwahaha I’m evil’ which didn’t fit the story. Can see a pattern on Frieda’s writing now, so not looking to read more of her stuff for now

The Housemaid (novel)

I like the twist midway and the build up of tension through the story. Leaves a bait for a sequel but I probably won’t bother.

I watched enough YouTube videos about Clock Tower on SNES, but never thought I’d get to play it. I’m so grateful we finally got a port last year: great, iconic game and earned my 19th platinum from it too! If you like classic horror games, don’t miss out on Clock Tower.

Pick up my son from school and we’re watching new episodes of one of his favourite shows, Hey Duggee. In one episode, Duggee is playing a chess match, and my mind immediately went ‘I wonder if anyone is cheating’. Thanks @sarahz.bsky.social 🤣

I’ve been baking and cooking new recipes lately: it is a creative outlet, and a need to try new recipes too. When you have so many allergies, you get bored of the same meals over and over so it’s nice trying new things ❤️

Diablo 2: Resurrected (Sorceress - all difficulties)

I played this game when it launched decades ago and its expansion but never since. This is the first time I’ve replayed it AND beat Hell too. I loved it; excellent score, evolving challenge, perfect atmosphere and very polished remaster too.

Hazbin Hotel Season 1

Wasn’t sure about this at the start as not a major musical fan but the animation, characters, and story won me over. Some over-use of swearing but eh 🤷🏻‍♀️ Really look forward to season 2!

Squid Game Season 3

I heard horror stories about the ending being terrible…I didn’t think it was? It matched the tone we’ve gotten all series: dark, tragic, with a small slither of hope. Good actors, games were tension filled and wonder what will happen next in a spin off?

Nosferatu (2024)

Excellent movie: great cinematography, wonderful actors (Lily-Rose Depp especially was electric) and wonderful pacing. Highly recommended!

Shivers is a PC horror game that gave me one of my earliest nightmares as a kid. It’s set in a museum where things came to life and try to kill you.
Now I love the game as an adult, one of my favourites actually.

‪Ward D by Freida McFadden ‬

‪I found her writing easy to read, and the plot very pacy and fun to unravel the mystery. I thought I had it figured out midway through and turns out I was wrong. Not the best book I the world but fun nevertheless ‬

Phantasmagoria (PC)

Heard of the game’s controversy whilst growing up and pleased to finally play it! It has good pacing, build up of tension & horror, and aside from a few iffy puzzles it’s also fun to play as well. Acting & score is decent as well, and like the setting too

Daria (5 seasons + 2 movies)

I only saw a few episodes growing up but I’m glad I watched the whole show now. Aside from a few ‘of its time’ jokes its wit is sharp, with great characters and satisfying ending. Also one of the catchiest/best opening songs? Not joking!
