Indiana Republicans just shut down Trump’s attempt to force new maps, a rare sign his pressure is losing its punch. The U.S. seized a tanker tied to covert oil shipments off the coast of Venezuela. And Kilmar Abrego Garcia is finally home after a judge ordered him released from ICE detention.

There’s no telling how many similar stories are not being told for fear of retaliation.

By now, everyone should realize Trump is not going after violent criminals or the worst of the worst—he is terrorizing everyone, including U.S. citizens, and their loved ones.

My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

This is how democracies fail. A sitting President is boosting calls for the arrest and execution of political opponents for urging the military to uphold the Constitution. Every alarm in the country should be going off.

Neguse: This is one of the most shameful episodes in my view in the modern history of the congress. The decision that Speaker Johnson made to recess the house for 54 days, to send Republican members home on paid vacation for eight weeks, is disgraceful.
