Things feel really dark and heavy rn, so something as small as getting cards from some 3rd graders can make a big difference.

I was emailing one of the reps about withholding funding due to that stipulation and how unacceptable that was and got this reponse:
Emal screenshot that says: "We understand there are strong feelings around certain materials, particularly those involving sensitive topics. While opinions differ on what is age-appropriate, we also believe that taxpayers have a right to expect transparency and accountability from the public institutions they fund—especially when it comes to content available to children. Libraries serve a broad public, and that responsibility comes with the need to balance access with community standards."

Ohio's representatives are responding to us with blatant lies about the budget in order to confuse people. Please spread the word with the actual numbers (www.olc.org/assets/pdf/H...):
Email from an Ohio Rep that says: "Hi, Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about the House's budget proposal and the Public Library Fund. Representative Workman truly appreciates hearing from constituents like you who are passionate about supporting libraries and the vital services they provide to families and communities. I want to clarify that the House’s budget proposal does not eliminate the Public Library Fund. In fact, it increases funding for Ohio’s libraries. Under the proposed plan, library funding will rise to $485 million in FY26 and $495 million in FY27—an increase of $2 million and $12 million, respectively, over current funding levels. Over the biennium, this will amount to nearly a billion dollars in support for Ohio’s public libraries, reflecting a more than 20% increase from 2020. Rep. Workman agrees that libraries are an essential resource for families and communities. They provide invaluable educational opportunities, access to books, and vital programs that enrich the lives of children and adults alike. She remains committed to ensuring libraries continue to thrive and that their funding is protected. Thank you again for your message and for your ongoing support of Ohio’s libraries. Your voice is heard and valued."

So the Santa that visited my child's daycare apparently told them that one of his reindeer likes pickles so I guess now we have a pickle on the cookie plate.
