I'm so sorry for you and Kathryn!! I remember meeting her when she was just a tiny baby, and indeed she was feisty and spicy 😹 Hugs to you both, and I hope the rest of the kitty crew is giving you lots of snuggles. ❤️🫂

Holy hell. I can’t imagine being that dependent upon technology to function. Gen X was born during wild technology transitions and failures. We know better than to assume that your technology is going to work when you need it to.

I don't believe Chrome is what's considered an "AI-powered browser" the same way some, like Perplexity's Comet browser, are. My instructional tech colleagues found that Comet can actually take quizzes inside an LMS 😭🤯😬

I'm primarily a Chrome user but don't engage with any of their obvious AI tools. Two most obvious are: Gemini (Google's AI) is now built in to the browser through a tab, & there's an AI mode in the search bar. This overview might help: blog.google/products/chr...
Go behind the browser with Chrome’s new AI features
Google Chrome is getting upgraded with the latest AI to make it safer, smarter and more useful

I bypass the Smart TV shitshow by using a Roku stick and installing / connecting my apps that way 😂 may be silly but it’s a sanity saver!

Same!! And I learned this summer that the welcome centers in eastern MT and western SD stock maps of adjacent states…so I was able to score a Nebraska map even though we didn’t pass by any welcome centers while actually in Nebraska.

When I cleaned out my dad’s car, I discovered he had amassed a collection of paper state maps from his travels after my mom died. I kept them and have made it a habit to stop and grab more to add to the collection. I collected 8 this summer! 🗺️

Same, even though they broke my 16 year old heart in 1993 when they beat the Phillies in the World Series. It helps that their star rookie pitcher is from my hometown!!

You are brave to get them at the same time! I got COVID and flu shots 48 hours apart a few years back and never again. I was miserable.

DLF’s (Digital Library Federation) general announcement list is open to all. DHSI list for digital humanities; govdoc-L for government documents and data folx. These all allow posts of the type you are describing; no organizational membership required.

Thank you for this reminder. Thursday will be 4 years since my dad died and it both feels like yesterday and forever ago at the same time.

I do think my parents found it curious that teenage me, who was not raised going to church at all, was suddenly listening to an artist who was mostly known for her Christian music 🤣🤣🤣

It’s not a Jesus-y show if that’s what K is thinking 😂 She talks about love and compassion and caring for each other but not in a preachy way. And she’s got a whole contingent of gay fans ❤️
