"Evidence is always more persuasive than exhortation."

From my recent blog post on motivations for participating in shared print programs. Making the case for collaboration often means quantifying the incentives.

Q: What is the most cited paper in the scientific literature?

A: "Protein measurement with the folin phenol reagent" (1951)

I never would have guessed 😊

My previous roaster recommendation was in Louisville KY - this one's right here in Columbus OH. Royal Flamingo (love the name) is relatively new; I've tried a couple of their coffees (a blend and a single origin) and both were really good.

One last thought on the blog post linked below ... OCLC Research collects, synthesizes, and shares collective wisdom through the publication of case studies on a variety of library interests: collective collections, RDM, and more. Check them out.

A coffee roaster to try - if you find yourself in Louisville KY, visit Sunergos Coffee. They offer a variety of single origins & blends, but you might start with Blend B. Of course you don't have to go to Louisville: order beans here:

In my nearly 30 years of research, the idea that has probably changed my thinking about libraries the most is collective collections - that the scale of collection stewardship can extend beyond the local level, creating value for libraries & users alike.

Collective wisdom drives collective collections. It's all about shared knowledge and data aggregation. I have some thoughts here:

Collective collections through collective wisdom  - Hanging Together
Collective collections are strengthened through aggregated data and shared practitioner knowledge.
