The guy who tasked me with the flowers, waiting for the march to arrive.

A nice man came by and tasked me with the floral arrangement.

I’m documenting the Ohlone shellmound-to-shellmound Black Friday march.

Ohlone are the indigenous group whose land is from Big Sur to the Bay and shellmounds were sacred burial sites that a parking lot (Berkeley) and a mall (Emery Bay) were built on. There’s only a memorial left in Emery:

NYT really tells on itself about how out of touch it is with middle America. Duck hunting! How exotic!

Just found an old video of my mom’s dog nutmegging a chair with a pumpkin.

It is awesome. (Too late for 2026 USMNT squad?)

NYT should have their license to cover Mamdani revoked:

Ok, now they’re maybe overcompensating.

Is the implication that Trump traded praises w Mamdani? Cause I’m seeing exactly none of that.

If Trump has lost the banks, then… does this mean endgame?

Do you know how absolutely wild it is to ask journalists to be ‘objective’ on this president?

(Disclaimer: there is no such thing as objective journalism. Objectivity is just an asymptote that’s good to strive for.)

It’s very fun to see this all in print and I can’t wait to learn more about the neighborhood and fold in members of the community.

It was a nod to the past, the origins of the land. And I also visited the Oakland Tech High School journalism class, where I recruited students to write for the paper. A nod to the future.

I started my tenure by doing a deep dive on the Indigenous history of Rockridge — intentionally highlighting that the current, oft-debated land use issues that plague the neighborhood pertain to a land that belongs to the Ohlone.

Here’s the thing: checks and balances have always been an absolute farce

Something nice about taking your old job as a gondolier is that sometimes 60-year-old bachelorette parties sing you “Gondolero” to the tune of “Bamboléo.” (Blurry, off-frame video due to me dancing.)

How not to write a headline

I know this is gonna be something stupid-easy. But for now, it’s really testing my patience.
