It gets a bit stereotypically "wet-liberal" when they're all "we must be nice to the giant snowflake that has killed billions" one minute and then "what a shame that the billions on this planet will die and we could fix it anonymously in 5 seconds but Prime Directive tsk".

Post 80s Trek has an issue where it confuses sentience and sapience and thinks that the ethical issues involved are the same. They are not. "Is this thing alive" is a very different question to "is this thing self-aware".

I think that mixing and matching different elements was tricky back then. I know that in Space Seed, for instance, they filmed the Enterprise and Botany Bay models together.

People are used to what they're used to. And yeah, no-one has ever struggled going "18° is too cold, but 18.5° is too hot!"

People are used to what they're used to. And yeah, no-one has ever struggled going "18° is too cold, but 18.5° is too hot!"

My biggest annoyance is wind speed because that's the only one I don't instinctively know if it's going to be mph or km/h and my weather app does not tell me.

If we're going to follow our own rules (as annoying as it is) he was born in South Africa so we can't say that he is "really" English-Canadian, otherwise we're doing the exact same racist stuff they do when they say that someone isn't "really" British/American/etc.

Upton didn't do anything harmful. She followed all the rules that there were at the time. Peggie, on the other hand, was proven to have harrassed her and is also a racist POS.

I should say that I'm not adverse to others doing those roles. I don't throw a fit when the Joker doesn't sound like Hamill. But still, when you watch those shows you're just "yes, this is what these characters sound like".
