🍗A southern fried rendition of Marx? What would Karl or the colonel say about that?!

Find out why two half brothers are divided in Lee Cole’s novel and the (anti)intellectual conflict at the heart of it @faberbooks.bsky.social

Ever wondered what else your Christmas and Black Friday packages might be mixed in with?

Some of Lee Cole’s novel is set in a packaging warehouse.

In the episode, Lee talks about how he turned this ‘boring’ job into a really interesting setting of his novel

Love this cover from de Beauvoir’s reissue of America Day by Day

As @joannapocock.bsky.social says, ‘it’s full of gossip’

Joanna mentions it in her book GREYHOUND @fitzcarraldoeds.bsky.social

Which we spoke about on RP (doing some bonus content to release tomorrow!)

Anna’s pain is spiritual as much as it is physical

Here, Agnes made me think a lot about how we’re trying to find fulfilment, and how we place responsibility in other people’s or ideas of other people to fulfill ourselves.

How do break from that?

“It’s like scrap paper - you can’t make anything of it”

This is a painfully sweet metaphor for how Agnes writes about time in her novel

This such a skilful aspect of SUPPORTING ACT and how people experience time differently

Agnes reminded of Ernaux
