We're not controlled by emotions in the same way men are. But also because it can get you dead in many settings. And while you're on it, let's all reflect on centuries of people of colour having to keep it together under colonisation, slavery, apartheid, Jim crow laws and the list goes on...

It's all deliberate. When farms fail, in will sail the billionaires to snap up the land

They aren't cowards. They are deliberately supporting authoritarianism because they benefit. They want this.

Americans went to Germany in 1936 and Jesse Owens delivered a major blow to Hitler's claims of white supremacy. When war came to Europe, the US stayed out of it until Japan bombed you. So why should today's athletes suffer because Americans elected themselves a dictator?

Although, to be literal, he had at least one to give, and he gave it

So then it's no mistake then that ICE is targeting the workers of Califirnia, it's a power move?

It is worth noting that it is a continuation of the trend to centre left from the previous election, not a u turn in attitudes

He and Sky are so far to the right they only represent billionaires, making the moderate media scary to their snowflake frozen hearts
April 27, 2025 at 9:24 AM
I'm glad it's boring, I feared it would be heart breakingly devisive

Your fight for survival has a long way to go before forgiving comes into play, but America will never even be good again unless you heal the extraordinary divides in your society. Enduring resentment won't cut it, rebuilding equality and equity might

The real question is how you can claim to be a democracy when you make it so hard to vote. Compulsory voting here in Australia, so almost but not quite everyone of us adults votes, and I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes in a queue, local, state or federal, in my 40 plus years of voting

And begs the question of how we will be treated should we make a stand for our own interests...
March 4, 2025 at 1:23 AM
Yeah they did. I'm Australian just watching from the outside and none of this wasn't made clear to the voters, this is what he said he would do.

It's easy to abuse or mock the Trump voters who didn't really think he'd do all the stuff, and yes, it's infuriating... But these are the ones you can win over to the fight. Maybe it's time to find ways to take them back into the arms or democracy and I told you so just won't get that cut through
February 2, 2025 at 8:14 PM
Unless the Murdoch media decides democracy is a core value, the US is in pretty deep trouble. And I think Rupert and little Lachie favour person wealth and power over all
February 1, 2025 at 8:43 PM
I'm in Australia, so maybe too removed to have a full opinion (although we have an election coming and the leader of our right party, in opposition at the moment, seems determined to go full Trump) but I still feel there's always space for satire as one prong of attack
February 1, 2025 at 8:38 PM
Privilege should absolutely be satired.

The policies of the Trump types make media oligarchical types even more oligarchical, richer and safer and more powerful... that's an easy solve. What they're all going to do once they've completely destroyed the middle class and there's no more customers is a problem for another day...

Although one interpretation of the situation is that Putin himself is operating like a prepubescent playground bully who's bitten off more than he can chew and desperately needs someone to offer a face saving way to back down and compromise while still retaining his swagger...

Budget cuts means overseas provided footage is doable, getting a local film crew on the ground is less so?

Crying for you as the trauma from 2019, when Australia was on fire basically from September to February, is triggered. The sight of a peninsula of citizens standing in the ocean to survive brought us so close to meaningful debate on climate action, and then Covid...

The premier's assurance that the public have nothing to worry about as the men were known to the victim is so telling, code for 'don't worry blokes, your women are safe from others - this is just a coupla bros taking care of their own business, we can all just carry on as usual'

Thanks for the refreshing suggestion that teachers should be trusted. We don't hear that often enough

Media construct or genuine representation of voter alienation who use similar colours, they won seats... And I cannot see that promises of nuclear power are going to win them back. If their success continues, it will have to reshape how polling is conducted and viewed
December 8, 2024 at 8:56 PM
At what point do we need to take the teals seriously in polling?
