What matters is how they reply now. Most people want to have a relationship with their parents and would forgive, if said parents were willing to take responsibility and ever admit they were wrong. Or do anything to change.

So sad how many older parents refuse to listen to their adult children or take any accountability for their own behavior. My mom is certainly not going to get a therapist, no matter how much she needs one.

I was self diagnosed until last week. I'm a bit sheepish about the fact that I was already sure I was autistic and probably ADHD, but wanted an "official" diagnosis because my mother doesn't believe me. I'm 50 btw. Our parents really mess us up!
