The civil lawsuit are going to be epic.

Something that should have happened in 2021, when people could have been held accountable. Now, it'll just be rage bait, since nothing can be done.

It shouldn't matter what the intent is for, it's not our land. The U.S. government can't even take care of the citizens it has and now it wants to take more land and add more citizens; they're all mental 🤦🏻‍♀️

I will always blame the senate for never convicting him during the second impeachment trial and I will always blame the Biden administration for not prosecuting the planners of 1/6.

Me too 😏

The Court in U.S. v. Alvarez-Machain justified the abduction and extradition of the defendant from Mexico to U.S. because there was an extradition treaty between Mexico and the U.S.; there is no extradition treaty between Venezuela and the U.S. so it will be interesting to see how this progresses.

We have, but in this instance I doubt the ICC is willing to look past the whole invading/kidnapping of a leader of a sovereign nation & his wife in the dead of night to face US charges, not international charges. Meanwhile the former Honduran president who was convicted by a jury was just pardoned.
January 5, 2026 at 1:49 PM
His lawyers are going to have a field day with jurisdiction, venue, and the whole kidnapping thing. He is entitled to the same laws and protections that our constitution provides. We're not part of the ICC so we can't prosecute him internationally and he won't go to The Hague.

I don't know of anyone that would consider the SAC years a/k/a the Cold War, 1946 until 1992, peace time. I remember doing nuclear war drills in elementary school. But when the military cannot pass an audit there is a way bigger problem. But yeah we can't have healthcare because of the military.

I don't have shit figured out but I do know that we went to war in the Middle East my senior year of HS, for the first time, and we've never stopped. Sorry if I'm pissed that the military continually pisses away money like it's water and we the people can endlessly supply it. But whatever 🤷🏻‍♀️
January 4, 2026 at 2:34 PM
Since the 1990s defense contractors & lobbyists have been able to convince the U.S. government that war is in its best interest. We the people cannot compete with defense contractors and lobbyists. The US is a country that has to be at war to function.
January 4, 2026 at 2:24 PM
The U.S. government, defense contractors and defense corporations love endless wars, which is why we have been at war most of my adult life. We can't have universal healthcare but we can endlessly fund the military.

To this day my one friend still will not talk about what he saw in Bosnia while with SFOR. Not everything is a joke. Not everything needs humor. What the U.S. government did should never be acceptable and I hope we are held accountable.

I stopped thinking the those types of jokes were funny when Bush and Powell lied about WMDs.

When did the U.S. become judge jury and executioner? We have a convicted felon and rapist in as president. Maybe we should have had a trial for his additional crimes, the U.S. would have been less crimey too.
January 4, 2026 at 11:18 AM
As a paralegal with 20+ years experience I'm going to watch with interest on how she imposes our laws on the leader of another country that we kidnapped & brought to our country. The fight over jurisdiction/venue alone may take years and that may be what gets the case tossed.
January 4, 2026 at 11:12 AM
If that's the real reason, then why not bomb, invade, and kidnap Putin or Kim Jong Un, or Ayatollah Ali Khamenei? It's about the oil; trump already admitted so.

We have no business judging how others rule their countries when our country is run by corporations, lobbyists, and wealthy individuals. We don't even have hope in this country.
January 4, 2026 at 12:03 AM
Our government has been involved in how many regime changes in other countries, how many have actually worked out well? I've lost all respect for our military. We have no business judging other leaders when our own is a convicted felon and rapist.

Two of my neighbors hang out with us around our bonfire and hand out candy to the kids; we all live at a busy intersection. I found a good deal on candy at Costco, and I’m still gonna enjoy the bonfire with my neighbors for a couple hours. Prices be damned, I need some normalcy.

Sadly I have no faith that he will ever be held accountable, and if he is, he will be pardoned after a few years. Thankfully, I live in the northeast and my state is part of that health alliance, so that is some good news.

I typically do have water bowls for the birds and others for squirrels, deer, and other small animals. 🥰
