I'd honestly love a game with a cast of characters that has the tension and vibe of Annihilation, which absolutely feels lonely and isolated and terrifying despite having a full group of people chatting with each other.

...but the NPCs also assign a very, very male-coded reverence and fear to the way they do it, and immediately shut up when he ignores them. But Myles really does feel like he's talking down to Samus and rolling his eyes at her when she does the same. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, though.

I'm thinking about the contrast of this and the NPCs in the 2016 Doom. In the latter, the Doomslayer is very similar to Samus; he doesn't talk, he proceeds to do whatever he thinks he needs to do in order to get his goal. The NPCs chastise him for smashing his way through problems...
