Wanting to take care of them and having them prepared for you to do so would be a great combination, wouldn’t it? But if parents haven’t prepared themselves to be helped, it’s a lot more work!

Some of that is just being aware of the legal paperwork surrounding inheritance and power of attorney.

I like the stories of how magnetic pole reversals were figured out.

Except the image was not part of the files at all

Or… this is part of the bigger scheme to cast doubt on all images presented. If you can easily establish that some are wring, then any of the remainder are also considered suspect

If conformity is core to your worldview of righteousness and morality, then anyone who defies conformity and is happy and healthy is a threat to the core!

I think that is the reason they are so adamant. It *is* a threat to a foundation of their identity. People get really defensive of those!

And it gets taxed afterwards when it wasn’t taxed before!

Yeah, I’ve had a good old-fashioned cold for a couple weeks now: congestion, cough, so taste and smell are wonky. But no fever no chills, no aches.

Got it right after his college kid was home for Thanksgiving!

And I am current teacher who’s been teaching for 30 years. Why do you not trust your colleagues?

Ours has a steelcut oats setting that quickly became our daily breakfast routine. How did we live before?
December 14, 2025 at 4:45 PM
Yep. The ongoing effort to explain to some people that complimenting a choice a person made (nice sweater) is different than objectifying them (nice body). Some never quite get there….

Two weeks before finals, maybe? Early break for all?

Settle right in time to start new term?
December 13, 2025 at 11:21 PM
Gee, why have teachers not thought if that!

Look, maybe believe teachers when they say students are more reluctant to do sustained tasks required to demonstrate learning.

I recently asked students to respond to, not just summarize, each chapter, as we went.

Some where stumped. Many balked at the reading load.

But it was quite obvious when they tried to cut and paste from online!

I agree! My concern is also for just having these students driving! They can’t reliably read gauges, understand basic texts, and yet are given responsibility to operate cars in traffic.

I hear high school students expressing surprise that plants are living things!

She’s right: it is frightening.

I don’t think it’s all about other people‘s gender identity. It’s about other people being accepted even if they have violated norms. This is just a really easy group to make a public spectacle of what happens if you step out of line with the demand for conformity.

Many consider the pressure to “fit in” to be a positive, and so they ruthlessly attack anything that undermines the stranglehold of fear of not being accepted.
