Oh, Tracy! Tracyluv is iconic, from going upstairs to play her tapes to being a murdering schemer. Kate Ford is the definitive Tracy - love how bitchy she can be, and has great humour. Hated all the feuds, but adored her bond with Deirdre. Needs more to do.

Ida was a fantastic supporting character, totally believable as the militant shop steward. Loved her sparring with Mike in the factory, and the friendship with Ivy, Vera and Elsie. Her mid-90s return was a delight, she should've been elevated to a main character.

Suzie was flighty, heart like a brick, but so eminently watchable who gave Elsie as good as she got. The trio of Elsie, Suzie and Gail in the late 70s was fabulous and added an extra dimension to the show. Always wanted a return to make amends with Gail, alas.

Another character I gradually warmed to, and ended up liking a lot. Suppose you could say she was an interfering old bag, but her hatred of Reg was joyous to watch. Those array hats/tea cosies were amazing, and I’m still mystified by her disappearance in 1999.

Norris was a wonderful comic character, a true gossipmonger who could be biting, irritating yet funny. Wonderful as Rita's sidekick in The Kabin, and I loved his relationships with Emily and Mary - he really cared for them. Norris is much missed from the cobbles.

The unofficial queen of tasers. Sharon is funny, a force of nature, a dreamer, but vulnerable. Her arrival in 1982 really lifted the show, and Sharon jilting Ian in 1999 is one of my first soap memories. Tracie Bennett is fabulous, would love another return!

It took me a long time to warm to Fred, I say, Fred. But he had stature, and loved marriage... and meat! Superb comic character, and John Savident was a fine actor who could do drama extremely well. His voice made some truly extraordinary sounds. A proper icon.

Becky was a star. One of the icons of the 2000s, great humour and very feisty. ADORED her relationship with Roy and Hayley, was fab to watch. I did get bored by the self-destruction and feud with Tracy, but she left at the right time and her exit was perfect.

The first bad boy, but was just a camp scamp. Dennis lit up the screen in the 60s, and Philip Lowrie had a natural flair for comedy. He worked beautifully with Pat Phoenix, and latterly Barbara Knox. Was wonderful to see him return in 2011, but they wasted him.

Easily the best of the Nazir family, Shelley King was phenomenal in the Geoff story - having that play out during lockdown (COVID-D) made it more horrific. Poor Charlotte Bronte! Yasmeen deserved much more, I loved her theatricality (and laughing at Geoff).

The best villain Corrie has ever had. Despite appearances, his sinister nature was always there. The way he nearly destroyed Rita was utterly chilling. Mark Eden was a marvellous actor, and you’ll always think of him when you go to Blackpool, or hop on a tram.

Lovely character who had so much warmth. Roy Hudd brought some much-needed comedy at a dodgy time in the show. Loved Archie's relationships with Audrey and Blanche, and ability to guess the height of everyone. Pleased he lives on with George and Glenda.

Norman Bates with a briefcase. Glorious villain, almost verging into camp panto. Tricky Dicky’s transformation from a family man to depraved serial killer was gripping and had the whole country talking. Imitated ad nauseam, but never replicated. Wonderful.

Great character, and a nice fella. Tim has proved to be Sally’s best husband (sorry, Kev), and they are a great match. Loved it when they used to get horny with each other on a whim. Joe Duttine is great at both comedy and drama, and a great fixture of the show.

Boring, arrogant and selfish. Ken is *still* there, like the ravens in the Tower of London. No-one can shout with such passion and intensity like Bill Roache, and I hope he’s there when he’s 100. Ken has seen and done it all, but we need to see the kimono again.

Daisy had so many layers, sassy but vulnerable, and I really liked her. The team of Jenny and Daisy worked beautifully, and it’s a shame we didn’t see more. Charlotte Jordan really shone in the acid attack story, Corrie should’ve hung on to her for longer.

Rula Lenska is camp, with the biggest hair. Fact. Claudia was so much fun, I adored the love/hate relationship with ‘Aud’ was glorious. Audrey lobbing the bouquet flowers at Claudia was one of the best moments of the past decade in Corrie. Would love a return.

Extraordinary to watch, especially given the appalling circumstances it came about. Nearly 23 million people watched it.

Deliciously foul. It took me a long time to warm to Cilla, but Wendi Peters made her watchable. LOVED her friendship with Yana, and Cilla crashing into the canal on Blanche’s mobility lives in my head rent free - never seen such a dramatic performance!

The Street didn’t feature much happiness for Christine. World weary, but warm with the brightest smile. She could’ve been one of the leading 60s characters. Really liked her friendship with Ken. Christine Hargreaves was a wonderful actress, taken too young.

A character who deserves more recognition. Jack was the perfect landlord, and had the knack of bringing Annie back down to earth, and bring out her softer side - they were the ideal match. The death of Arthur Leslie curtailed what could’ve been a bigger legend.

Chris Gascoyne - the definitive Peter Barlow, without so much as a Scottish accent! A very charismatic character and actor. The bigamy story was massive, but I think I preferred him with Leanne instead of Carla. Hope we see a return, his presence is much missed.

David is one of those characters who works well with anyone. Jack P. Shepherd has a great flair for comedy and drama. Loved his relationship with Gail, but I didn’t like the psycho David phase - it got SO boring. Glad he’s mellowed, and has become a mainstay.
