We were thrilled Thursday evening when Community Board 3's Landmarks Committee voted unanimously to support the landmark designation of the Church of St. Mary on Grand St. CB3's Full Board will vote on this resolution Tuesday Jan 27, 6:30pm at PS 20, 166 Essex St, the public is welcome to attend.

It was a great night last night at LESPI's book talk, "The Talented Mrs. Mandelbaum," presented by author Margalit Fox at P&T Knitwear on Orchard Street. The audience learned how “America's first great mob boss was a nice Jewish mother," then stayed afterward for a lively book signing and reception.

LESPI volunteers were very happy to take part in last Sunday's Corlears Hook Park Halloween celebration, along with a host of other local non-profits and businesses. Ghosts and goblins of all ages came by for trick or treat, and a great time was had by all.

We were happy to be part of the Fourth Arts Block's annual LES Arts & Culture Open House yesterday with two events: tabling on East 4th Street, and our "A Neighborhood Transformed - Landmarks of the East Village/Noho" walking tour led by LESPI's Deborah Wye. It was an excellent day!

Earlier this week LESPI's Richard Moses met with Skyline Restoration's crew to review their salvaging of the East River Park's historic Track House's terra cotta ornament — so far it's going beautifully!
