Now more than ever!!

Now more than ever!!
I don’t usually post works whilst I’m working on them. This is just the second layer of a little painting I’m doing as part of a series of four fairies. I thought it was interesting because I had imagined Addie dressed in the feathers of an Eurasian Jay. But I found it just didn’t work for me.

I found this little beauty flying around our living room. We still don’t know where she came from, as we don’t have any open fireplaces. She was very very cute though. I released her when the sun went down. She’s a pipistrelle.

Two of our beautiful new girls. This is Patsy and Eddie. They’re part of the AbFab trio, along with Saffy. I had no idea hens were such fun. Big personalities.

Here’s some closeup views of ‘Airmed’. I had never painted teeth before, and it was a great experience. The flowers are all different kinds of herbs. It is said a herb grew for every bone and sinew in her brother’s body. One for every day of the year.

This is my most recently completed painting, called ‘Airmed’. It’s 50 x 40cm/19.7 x 15.7” oil on panel.
Airmed was the Irish goddess of healing. More in the comments.

I am thrilled and honoured to be working with the wonderful, new o gallery, in Denmark. What a gorgeous space and such wonderfully talented artists. Thank you, Laura, for inviting me to be part of your beautiful vision.

Progress shots of my most recent painting, ‘The Morrígan’. My original idea was to have her dress be a battle scene but, when I completed it, I found it disappeared into the background. So I created a dress that mimicked feathers and the decoration on old, ceremonial suits of armour, instead.

My latest painting is called ‘The Morrígan’. She was a Celtic deity who chose the winning side in battles and feasted upon the fallen. Her cry would rally men and give them the courage to fight. We all need her cry right now.

‘Elegy’ was one of my larger paintings. 120 x 100 cm. An elegy is a sad poem, usually about death. My elegy showed Mother Earth grieving for the death of nature and comforted by the ghosts of hope and resilience.
