I don’t like the “I know writers who use subtext and they’re all cowards” but russ is writing ruthless, heated polemics to cut through 1000 guardian knots in a swipe while le guin is so happy to look at a fuzzy slide of a knot and engage in Socratic dialogue about how one might unpick such a thing

I don’t agree w every thought Russ has but god damn does she just bring so much complexity and depth and feeling to every piece and idea she turns her hand to. To me Le Guin has always left me cold this way. A flat suite of perfect little ideas delivered both beautifully and sterilly (sterilely?)
