There IS ego involved, especially knowing someone like her is the one who brought them down. She will even acknowledge it, but she will also insist she fundamentally wishes for kindness to win, this time at least.

Deep down she also feels a vindictive type of satisfaction, as working with the Guild means being pragmatic and compromising a lot on who can get away with what. She suspects she feels the same type of visceral disdain for those who relish in their cruelty as they would feel for her own weakness.
