You Are Odysseus has passed 400 copies sold!
(That’s over 400 chunky paperbacks - I don’t have eBooks data yet)

In the last two days I’ve seen two of these Cupid-looking babies with Scylla-like legs/tentacles/leaves/petals on their bottom halves. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Teaching students about the Roman pantheon today, one of them told me there’s a Sabrina Carpenter song called ‘Juno’. I said I’d check it out.
Seems to reference the time she was locked into a fake throne by Vulcan?

We put in (what will hopefully become) our wildlife pond six days ago, and today we found a pile of what look like dead freshwater shrimp at the bottom?

I’ve only had a chance to scan it but the first ‘tablet’-looking image matches what someone else sent me, from here: www.odysseyadventures.ca/articles/myc...

Can anyone help me find an image of this fresco from Mycenae / the Mycenaean period? (I don’t have the context or the book referring to it, which is p.159 Mylonas, G. (1966), Mycenae and the Mycenaean Age, Princeton Uni Press)

Quite fitting naming of this product - ‘Deimos’ is the feeling I get when my kid tries the climbing frame…

Alas, I showed my Classics class the Matt Damon Nolan ‘Odysseus’ first-look image, and they liked it. And they’re the target audience let’s face it.
At least they recognised the fresco behind him is period.

Remember the Termite Pavilion from Pestival, London Zoo and Attenborough’s ‘Life in the Undergrowth’, about 15 years ago?
Found it, magnificently collapsing and ruined with age and rain, in a Devonshire park yesterday!

I got an email that tells me that apparently I started a LiveJournal in 2004.
I checked, and it has precisely four entries.

Husband told me about this story.

I’ve just spent five minutes telling him the sub-plot of Our Mutual Friend.
February 10, 2025 at 7:00 PM
Had never noticed Odysseus is actually referenced in the film, because I had yet to meet him when I was watching as a child. Like showing me as a baby a picture of my future husband.

We got Yellow Submarine on DVD to watch with the kid.

It was my absolute favourite childhood film.

DVD has Making Of doc, where it says that the film’s story was inspired by the song… but based on the Odyssey.

Ergo, my *entire life* has basically been obsession with the Odyssey.
