Eminent Writing Teacher Peter Elbow died in early February, but published notice came out only days ago. He really shook up the field in positive ways, and Elbow's instructional materials still work well with FYC students, I can attest.

The dawn Redwood outside of my office window, loving real winter. Up in Michigan winter has set in for the first time in many years, sustained cold and snow cover, icy, quiet, remote -- as it was when I grew up here in Leelanau County.
