Yea, I should've mentioned that: I did call several times, as did my neighbors. Sometimes police would casually cruise down the street an hour later, but more often than not, they'd just never come.

Unfortunately, I think the answer is: nothing. For about a year, I had a neighbor child (17-18 years old) who'd walk around the neighborhood with an AR-15, finger on the trigger. Police never so much as said a word to him.

Open carry states are something else.
