I write about humans, tech, and culture, and about what I learned working for Slack, Spotify, and Instagram. But you’re probably here for photos of my cat Lumpy.

You should go read my newsletter at www.leahreich.com
FYI Brian texted me this, I was as yet unaware about Lizza's Part 2 and the various...details. Then I learned about it, but luckily I have had such a vicious and nasty flu that my brain immediately flushed the knowledge away as a protective measure. So now I have experienced the knowledge twice

Right?!? It was so intense. It fascinates me that the issue with bisexuality as an identity seems to persist, it’s just morphed

In 2019 I got into an argument with a French woman at the Cubbyhole who insisted bisexuality did not actually exist and it was like, why are we still doing this? I am too old and tired for it

Alexis!!! hi how are you
November 23, 2025 at 4:50 PM
haha it was simply: I was curious if it was something you brought up while dating (relationship-focused) or in more casual encounters, and if that made a difference too

Very sad no one has appreciated this extremely funny joke
November 23, 2025 at 4:45 PM
Oh interesting. At least that has changed since the '90s. I was about to ask another question and then I realized it might be invasive haha

oh I see! yes it was just an extra space for some reason - the article is about a woman who I believe was married to and had children with a man, and then decided to only date women

I can't imagine there's upside to bringing it up around a lot of gay men either?

Also the only good bisexual joke I ever came up with is: "Bisexual Awareness Week? Wow, they usually only need 5 minutes to make sure you're aware"

ba-dum

it's just an extra space - the people who identify as bisexual seems to be a normal phrase?
November 23, 2025 at 4:35 PM
I was never 100% comfortable with bisexual as an identity for many reasons, not least of which (and I am not proud of this) was that in the '90s the bisexuals were Extremely Not Cool to me (but they were THE NICEST and most welcoming in general)

There was a book that came out a few years ago about all this that I was asked to review, and I was hopeful about it, but it was truly terrible unfortunately
November 23, 2025 at 4:32 PM
This isn't directed at the author of the book, just something I think about a lot as someone who came up & out in the '90s in SF, when if you had so much as looked at a dick you were persona non grata in many (most!) lesbian spaces

You too can make those prints your own!! I only wish he’d done Trotsky

I half agree, half think there’s more nuance to the conversation than that - some people with ED struggle *more* when it’s pointed out, especially at scale. And the culture of commenting on women’s bodies also contributes to anorexia. It’s a hard problem.
