Honestly my siblings both have serious artistic skills and have ended up in rando office jobs which pay the bills (with art as a hobby/side-gig) and that's not an unrealistic goal esp in the current economy.

It's a good contrast and compare e.g. to Jane Goodall dying recently and the response to that.

He simply did not write about women like he thought they were people and it's very difficult to believe, given everything else, that this was not an accurate portrayal.

I believe the original short story was written as erotica and then expanded into a novel much later, but the traces remain
