It's a very good example of how a lazy ending can sabotage the entire experience. I've never rolled my eyes so hard. It hurt.

But the game's merits are there; especially in its environmental and sound design. The presentation can be stellar, which leads me back to a previous point.

But the story really doesn't carry its weight. It flops around & follows a predictable path all the way to its ending with, frankly, hack-level composition

In a closing cutscene, characters recreate the pose of Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam & I immediately wanted either me or the game to die

The plot & narrative are both for the most part passable. I like its approach to the amnesiac protagonist trope. The lapses in memory aren't only from before you picked up the controller; pieces are deliberately missing throughout your experience

Your narrator is utterly unreliable, and I like that

It isn't bad, not by any stretch, but in the end it felt... kind of bland. What would've been new in 2012 became already-done and overdone by 2025.

It has some good ideas it never actually follows through with, both in gameplay and (especially) in writing.

And oof, that writing...

As someone who had been following ROUTINE since way back when it was first posted on Steam Greenlight, I had an fairly wide array of expectations each time it popped back into existence. But I always expected it to be interesting.

And I guess it does fulfill that one. It's interesting. And... ehhh

A lot of misinfo here.

That picture is of a goosefish, not a wobbegong. They're classed under ray-finned fish, or Actinopterygii. They live in deep water and aren't a threat to humans

The wobbegong is a species of carpet shark. They prey in shallows and are potentially dangerous to divers.

And of course, here he is violating his bail conditions trying to incite his followers to harass and dox trans people... as a game

And for more context, here is Graham mocking the suicide of a young child:

Because the people at @theguardian.com have a weird brain disease where they forget how to do journalism when transphobia is the topic, here is some additional context, where Graham incites his followers to assault trans women for existing:

I dipped back into the Resident Evil 2: Remake and I can't believe I forgot how good its portrayal of Claire Redfield is.

Like, holy fuck. Top-tier action hero. I love her.

Made fresh ice cream! Strawberry-banana, made using fresh fruit and homemade custard. Turned out really well, and the custard (with some xantham gum) really helped it keep an ice-creamy texture.

History books of the future are going to have to try to explain that the illusion of an immutable right to free speech in America was ultimately shattered because of a guy who first became somewhat-internet famous doing this

Mansion of the Hidden Souls for the Sega CD. A Myst-like but with paintings instead of books.

There's this one painting that is objectively fucked, made worse by the uncanniness of segacd's limitations.

Because of the Myst-like controls, you HAD to look at it to reach the door beside it.
