I use a book by Rebecca Lexa (@rebeccanaturalist.bsky.social) for plant identification and there is an online study group associated with the book. I also use iNaturalist, but I hate to say that Google Lens does a good job when I am having trouble identifying a plant.

Hi Cloudygrayfox, thanks for the update and I grew up in Happy Camp, so I am familiar with Siskiyou County mushrooms and after the recent rains is most likely helping. I am learning about them now in Shasta/Trinity/Tehama County. Also, after today's hike, I added two more mushrooms to iNaturalist.

Mike is someone I know from work who helps his mom and she likes to see flower photos, so I “enable” 😁 their time together by posting these photos.

Steve, I do not feel comfortable saying if any of the mushrooms in my photos are edible (even if I know they are) because of how easily mushrooms can be misidentified or picked at the wrong time. All it takes is being wrong once for a tragedy to occur. Also, please be wary of “so called experts”.
