2 law professors, including my friend Steve Winter, write to the NYT challenging David Brooks on his column, which argues that the political left developed the rhetorical & ideological strategies now being effectively, even ruthlessly, deployed by the political right www.nytimes.com/2025/11/15/o...

My good friend, Irwin Stotzky, speaks Truth to Power about what he rightly calls the constitutional crime scene, dubbed by its creators as Alligator Alcatraz. Proud of him for writing and the Miami Herald for publishing. Together, all of us, can make a difference. www.miamiherald.com/opinion/arti...

open.substack.com/pub/trenchwa.... We have to learn how to demand more of our leaders without running down our brand.
What can you say about Democrats after 2024 that you couldn’t have said about Republicans after 2020?
I am not generally inclined to be overly optimistic, nor do I mean to call into question complaints about the direction of the Democratic Party or its poor polling.

Medicaid cuts in Trump's ugly bill are cruel and unwarranted. But they won't suffice to win midterms because they are delayed and wrapped in convincing lies about able-bodied recipients. Tax cuts for the rich are wildly unpopular and cannot be defended. Dems must pounce on them!

Does the press really need help explaining to voters that burdensome new paperwork for health and food benefits either will throw folks off the rolls, in which case it will be cruel and unwarranted or won't so it will Ballon the deficit. Can' do both.

Perhaps now is the time for congressional leaders of both parties to take stock and understand that longstanding practice has allowed too much power to shift to the president when it comes to initiating use of military force.

Parts of Trump's MAGA base must be seething over his having taken action in support of Israel. Why else would he have chosen to use the F word, on-air, to denounce Israel so that all the world could see. Daddy's "not happy" with you, you ungrateful teen. It's insulting, yet par for the course.

We live in perilous times. Let's all speak out against federalizing the National Guard to do jobs for which they are not trained, are best performed by the states, and which may demoralize our troops who planned to protect Americans, not attack them.

I am begging everyone with a pulse to look away from the car wreck that is the Trump/Musk "feud" and focus instead on the fact that the OBBB bill sent from the House to the Senate, cuts $1.3 Trillion from Medicaid and Food Stamps to provide equivalent tax cuts to the wealthy. How can we stop it?

I often hear from friends that our political problems are fueled by the lack of a positive progressive program. Let's prove them wrong by showcasing the steady stream of great ideas from thought leaders with a heart. Here's one set from my friend Patricia McCoy

Scholarship is a powerful tool for changing how people think, plan, and govern. By giving voice to bright minds and bold ideas, we seek to foster understanding and drive progressive change.

We all need to face the fact that the GOP House Members' definition of "fraud and abuse" is the payment of govt. benefits to anyone who actually needs them for food, housing, or medical care. It's the only thing that can explain the Budget-Busting Belligerent Bill passed this morning.
May 22, 2025 at 3:32 PM
Of course, POTUS event with South African president was grotesque, appalling and embarrassing for our country. But let's keep our eyes on highlighting the reverse Robin Hood scandal that is the Budget-Busting Belligerent Bill they are trying to bully through Congress. Nobody voted for this b.s.

@kenmartin.bsky.social We need a giant media event - rock concert; Obama, the Clintons, etc. ASAP to tell the Country what's in the Budget-Busting; Belligerent Bill the House is now trying to pass. Can't let them hide it!!!!!!

Yesterday's actions from Trump & Miller show the Administration to be un-American. Dems must make this point convincingly to sane GOP members in Congress and get them to switch parties. Only a few House switches will change control. Switchers should get 2026 endorsements. Patriots where are you?
