If she does, surely the petitions already approved by Elections Alberta have to proceed. #abpoli

It would not surprise me.

It's a risky gamble. This MOU has divided a lot of Canadians.

Well look, what can we expect when our Premier plans to retire in Panama!
November 27, 2025 at 7:24 PM
Of course there is no mention by the UCP of any and all conditions that they must meet.
November 27, 2025 at 7:22 PM
If this is supposed to be nation building, it sure is dividing a lot of Canadians.
November 27, 2025 at 7:13 PM
I noticed that too.

But it would take years before any pipeline is in the ground.

I feel the same way. It will only embolden her and feed her ego.

Smith needs to make this about her. She will portray herself as Alberta's saviour.
November 27, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Danielle Smith did it first in Alberta!
November 27, 2025 at 6:15 PM
Disappointing, to say the least. Smith is not a nation builder.
November 27, 2025 at 6:06 PM
An MOU doesn't "ensure" anything.
November 27, 2025 at 5:46 PM
Smith will be even more insufferable now. She will portray herself as some kind of savior.

You can't suddenly say no one collects $200 anymore when you pass Go because you keep rolling threes.

I'm not a recall fan, but you can't keep changing the rules mid-game to your favour.

Don't like your own rules you ran elections on? Then get another mandate

Breakenridge: If recalls, petitions too much for Smith, it can be simplified to an election
If recalls, petitions and referendums are too much for Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, it can all be simplified down to a general election.

During the Gondek recall, Premier Smith was adamant that no changes would be forthcoming to recall during an active recall petition.

By the UCP's own measures, they can't amend recall rules until there are no active petitions.
