There’s one thing we should truly be thankful for: the boundless incompetence of Trump and his accomplice. — If democracy is to survive, we absolutely must ensure that all those smarter, would-be dictators waiting in the wings never ever get a chance to seize political power.

They should be concerned, I know I will be pushing for exactly those consequences for them.

It is not possible to be in a State of War with non state actors. You can seek to deal with them through your military (if they are not domestic) but it is a policing action, not a State of War.

The strikes rest on a secret DOJ memo from Pam Bondi’s OLC that accepts Trump’s claim that the US is in armed conflict with cartels & that smugglers pose an “imminent threat”. Legal scholars, UN experts & U.S. allies all reject this. Outside real war, firing missiles at suspects is state murder.
