I can STRONGLY recommend flying lessons if you aren’t scared of heights and like butterflies in your tummy… I took off and landed and even tried barrel rolls over the Isle of Wight but the wings said no… anyone out there have their Pilots License? 🛫

Ms Laura Hamilton Consultant In Trauma & Orthopaedics Royal College Of Surgeons Of England Sexual Misconduct in Surgery: RCSEngland Response 3:15 PM - 3:35 PM Biography Ms Laura Hamilton was educated at Oxford University then St. Georges before becoming an Orthopaedic Registrar on the London Training Rotation. She completed her training with an RCSE Travelling Fellowship to Hong Kong and gained a Masters in Trauma & Orthopaedics. Laura in a Consultant Hand Surgeon at Brighton Major Trauma Centre, where she is the Clinical Lead for Hands. Laura mentors surgeons across the UK, and is a Personal Tutor at Brighton & Sussex Medical School. She has published and presented extensively about improving the culture in surgery, particularly orthopaedics. She is the founder of the Women in Orthopaedics (W.ORTH) group (Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky) and is an active member of multiple panels encouraging diversity in surgery. Laura sits on the T&O Selection Design Group, which runs National recruitment of ST3 Orthopaedic surgeons. Through her work on improving diversity, Laura was elected on to the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She is Co-Chair of the Future Surgeons forum supporting medical students nationally, and is Deputy Lead for the RCSE Working Party on Sexual Misconduct in Surgery.

Just filmed the intro to @collegeofsurgeons.bsky.social Code of Conduct training. Tackling high levels of sexual misconduct in surgery. Unfortunately I discovered I am incapable of speaking even simple words with a camera pointed at my face. So sad to learn I will not be a late blooming film star 🤐
I’m sat in the park learning my lines. I’m wrote it and memorised everything. Unfortunately the words would not come out of my mouth once a camera was pointed at my face. I lost the ability to say ‘prevalence’ and also ‘individual’ amongst other things…

Shocking article in the Times, perpetrating outdated stereotypes. Sports writer shows misplaced arrogance, rudely dismissing all women in Orthopaedics. BOA and BHS have responded. We need immediate apology and retraction @thetimes.com do better

Ok I received this comment and tried not to 🤯… it’s been hundreds of years of white men, particularly in @collegeofsurgeons.bsky.social leading the way, but evidence shows diversity improves innovation and outcomes. Any tips on how to handle this #notmyson comment?! #notallmen #diversity

Great example showing how the #Dupuytrens Spiral Cord got its name! The radial digital nerve has been stretched and twisted around the growing cord and ends up sitting centrally under the skin at the base of the finger! Before and after removal of the cord. Consent ✅ #HandSurgery

Wow I am officially done with Twitter. It is now a full blown Cesspool. The gleeful, horrible comments show no restraint. Racism, sexism, xenophobia, fascism, misogyny with threats of murder

Black woman on a talk show describes her qualifications but explains she has always been the lowest paid person. Every comment says she must be annoying or not doing her job well or qualifications don’t mean anything. All idiots trying to defend their point of view. Would you ask one of these expert idiots to defend you in Court or do your surgery?

Hosting Xmas is months of stress & effort & cooking & logistical planning & money.
