Obviously making Boris Johnson PM is a bad idea in a crisis (or, you know, generally). But I feel like the scientific and technocratic mistakes are more useful to look at because they're more likely to be an issue next time this happens.

Why did no one realise the importance of changing travel advice before half term?

Why no efforts to scale up testing, meaning ministers were being told there was no community spread when in fact we weren't testing for it?

I do actually think there is a case to be made for specialist judge-led trials in some types of offence, because of biases around how victims are treated in sexual offence cases. But if you want to make that argument *actually make it* don't just abolish juries because it's quicker and cheaper!

If the sums don't add up, Labour should level with people in the budget - not use the courts crisis as cover to strip away ancient and vital civil liberties.
