When the nearest major hospital is 80+ miles away, rural hospitals (with as few as 2 ER beds) play a critical role in stabilizing trauma patients. The OBBA's $50B rural health fund won't nearly make up for the losses hospitals like these face from Medicaid cuts.

A federal judge paused a Florida law allowing state law enforcement to arrest immigrants for being undocumented.
In a clear violation—that left the judge "astounded"—state law enforcement kept arresting immigrants and sending them to ICE

A judge told Florida not to arrest undocumented immigrants. The state did anyway.
Even after a court order, Florida law enforcement officers made arrests under a new state law. The judge said she was "astounded" by the violation.
