Surge protectors work fine on a day to day basis but in the past we had many moments where they go "tits up" in events the full on No Break will hold and protect and sometimes even survive. So, we only do surge protectors for the less sensitive stuff...

In Brazil it is fairly common to have full on what we call "No Breaks", or UPS, because it is somewhat common moments where a surge protector will not fully shelter you from a strong snap surge, such as in a thunderstorm, while a No Brazil will itself fry, but not pass on the surge.
