Surely they weren't lying about only storing the ID photo until verification is complete.
Surely the honest explanation is they've a slow, inefficient, insecure, bottlenecked process for the evaluation of highly sensitive data.

whew, i wrote a few things.
Both critical and encouraging.
Specifying that user facing curation tools are a better way to allow folk to protect themselves.
(though i know the intent of the rules in question don't tend to be for the user's benefit. Rather just a means to avoid liability)
