Und falls Sie eine akademische Karriere in Deutschland anstreben, könnte diese Abhandlung über prekäre Arbeitsverhältnisse in der deutschen Wissenschaft im Laufe der Zeit für Sie von Interesse sein.

If you're thinking of a career in #academia, in any field, you should take some time to learn about the practical landscape of it as a workplace. One way of doing that is to read survey reports of employee well-being etc, here is one of postdocs in @maxplanck.de

One of the issues you raise as a factor is the employment conditions, in MPG & academia broadly. I was intrigued to learn that MPG and German universities used to employ more people on tenure basis than they do now.

I made the plots below, based on Leendertz (2020). Wissenschaftler auf zeit (..)

reproducibility with the programming language #Rstats can be tricky. regardless if you use renv, docker, groundhogr, something else - can we make it the norm to also just print out a table of package versions in plain text?
you can use my function if you want

This one is cool! This is also the case for swamps I believe, various powerful societies rise and push out neighbours into nearby regions which are hard to govern (mountains, swamps, jungle, etc).
Nichols has worked on this, right? And Jeff Good?
