Fixing and building things

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Here is a milestone I have been working towards for a while. A stake in the ground, a line in the sand. The tiles know things about each other and fit together based on a seed... #gamedev #indiedev #blender #unrealengine #saturdayscreenshot #tilesformiles

More game dev hi-jinks.
Adding corner values has thrown a spanner into the works, but has also produced a flurry of debug op-art. #indiedev #gamedev #screenshotsaturday #c++ #tilesformiles #aotearoa #wildstyle

It's been a journey. I am looking forward to building on this.
The end of the beginning: my new mesh module pipeline works for the first time, with mesh edge matching. Onwards! #indiedev #unrealengine #saturdayscreenshot #cpp #tilesformiles #gamedev

Sometimes I feel like taking a break from this stuff and making some art, HOWEVER I seem to be pretty close to a milestone: having the beginnings of my level layout system working.
Debugging transfer of edge states from my main grid path to the sub tiles and preparing for mesh layout trials. #unrealengine #indiedev #gamedev #tilesformiles #blocktober

Trying to remember two (sorta trippy) documentary films I saw in the 2000s(?) by a NZ filmmaker based in Japan. They both dealt with the emergence of a kind of animist digital culture: the internet as a spirit world & other weird fascinating ideas. Anyone know these films (or who made them)?

Carbon capture remains a boondoggle. Betting the national climate plan on it was always absurd.
A third of the carbon savings in the Government's climate plan for the next four years rested on one carbon capture project.

That project is not currently feasible, says the company which was supposed to do it.

Carbon capture: Pivotal project for cutting greenhouse gas emissions looks shaky
A huge chunk of the nation's next emissions budget rests on a single project, which the owner now says probably won't happen.
