I enjoy Live Action Role Playing games, the history and future of game design, and methods of positive social organization. My favorite colors are Seahawk Blue & Seahawk Green.
Not only are people's smartphones being used to mine their data about what they spend and where and why; people are also joyfully bragging about the money they blow to their feeds, to any and all who happen across them.

People see what the divide really is there, at Disney parks and elsewhere.

On one hand, Sears' mail-order affects racism: the shopkeep cannot act as a barrier to "the good life" of living in your home as good as life can get.

On the other, the government shrinking means you have to organize as consumers to hold companies to account, a Yelp review theory of social change.

Unsurprised that a study has found that Live Action Role Playing is most common among american states within Washington!

Anchor a thought- any thought- to a natural physical cycle- the sun, or the moon. Process that thought as the event comes and as the event goes. See how it flows through you and see your mind as its own process.

Practice choosing your mood- even the negative ones: see attached.

Fantastic article about the theories of play and co-creation. I'd like to pull out this quote to note this is why I find it best for staff to ride the middle line between competence and humility:

Its a rad space! I just haven't had time to make it happen as much. Flights do be expensive.

Un-gatekeeping here: if you want to play a game with you and up to three dozen of your friends and don't mind playing in the afternoons, Seattle's Queen Anne public library's bottom meeting room is free and has minimal cross-walk problems.

Korok sack boy + Zelda pot ceramic. Originally a desk pen-holder but then upgraded to Korok hiding place (ya ha ha, found me, etc)

Fox & Forest Duet is a Co-op Trick Taking game that challenges you to learn not so much how to "read" your partner, as it is about learning how best to be "read".

You gotta hand it to 'em- a story where the worst losers straight-up lose in a fight over what eventually turns i to a multi-billion sale to Disney. Great book from 2002.

Korok Cosplay is just plain efficient: you can go to Anime, Video Game, Comic and Fantasy conventions in the same gear! You get to hand out little trinkets to people who "found" you! And people find your friends for you!

I think this paragraph best epitomizes and defines what people mean when they say "experience LARP": game structures that staff is responsible for progressing the setting events, but patreons are then bouncing within to create their plot.

My immediate example would be the West Wing LARP- 1/2

Hey if anyone wants a paid LARP camp counciler gig in the Greenlake area of Seattle, the group my friend of 15 years Blaise works with is hiring. Caveat Emptor of course, but its a real job fron June to September.

Don't you dare turn your eyes away from history, even the awful, scary parts. If you don't watch it with your own eyes, you rely on others to tell you what you saw. We must all bear witness to what's coming.

For All Mankind: early proof currently only available in pre-orders. Catan with Nukes in Space (and good). Doug the designer came up to chat with us as ws played; game was a success story from demos and playtests at a previous OrcaCon. 60-90min, 4 players strongly needed, would recommend.

Tom designs card games that use eurogame ideas, and could be brought into low-resource environments like hiking and for imprisoned populations. Also the themes and displays are all very local and ecological.

Welcome all my new followers (and old friends). I said I would read more books in 2025; TTRPG books that I bought at OrcaCon vendor hall counts!

Will be in the conspace doing nerd shit tomorrow, if anyone wants to bump into me.

Snuck out of work a little early to hit up the Orcacon's *free* vendor hall

What are people's favorite 'Dead' (not in print, not supported, not played at cons) TTRPGs?
