2025 resolution is to check a book out from the library before buying/read my unread on the shelves. Follow along for middle-aged reviews & photos! Genres: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror, Suspense/Thriller, & “I liked the cover/tagline”
Sneaking in one last spooky season. First Grady Hendrix & didn’t disappoint! Nothing like some generational trauma in a haunted house setting. My unintentional bookmark was very fitting & couldn’t resist adding to the photo.

Forgot to post this short spooky season read! Only 200 pages & a great twist on the haunted house genre.

Out of the slump! Great read & a unique premise to the story. Some twists I predicted, two I didn’t! Purchased from Conma, A Bookshop #buylocal #sprayededges

Ok, first King down…I… was recommended this series by someone I trust in their opinion. Gratuitous without substance. This might be a male power fantasy. I’ll finish the series because I love the person who loves it. It caused a reading slump. Do not recommend.

Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman. I was on the waitlist for a while for this one. Did not disappoint. Jump scare horror. Took a while to get into the typesetting but once I did, I liked the pacing. Definitely a WTF ending.

Finished a few nights ago from my own shelf. The Quiet Tenant by Clemence Michallon. Wonderful little horror novel told in the perspectives of the women in this serial killer’s life. Realized 1/2 way through there could only be two endings. Either option added to the suspense.

What Feasts at Night by T. Kingfisher was finished last night. Bought this as a “pick me up” on 11/8. Great continuation of the characters, but I did like the first book more. Hobs is still my favorite.

And…finished on time! The Great Library of Tomorrow by Rosalia Aguilar Solace is a great little start to a fantasy series. I’ll definitely be picking up book two if it shows up. These characters have more story left to tell/live. All my love to Vega & Antares.

Oh! I finished this Friday night! Slow build up horror & a touch of fantasy. I may not look like the main character but we speak the same dialect of sarcasm which I enjoyed. I recommend for sure. Just have a box of wine handy, you’ll want it. #books #library

The first page! I’ll post updates on The Great Library of Tomorrow if I actually get the chance to read it.

On to the next library book! House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher. A little over 100 pages in. Photo for posterity. #books #Willettintheway #amihashtaggingcorrectly

Finished! Easy to tell it’s an earlier work based on the writing. Think “The Magician’s Nephew” but make it terrifying. All my love to Beau & Prince. This is on the To-Buy list. A+

The Troop by Nick Cutter. Unsettling & definitely creepy. This is one that will probably creep into my brain from time to time. There’s a lot going on & a good roundness to several characters motives. At first, I was unsure of the additional context chapters. By the end, I loved them.

Update on The Troop- little more than halfway through. Thoroughly unsettling & even had to skip over a scene. Nick Cutter, are you ok?

First read of 2025. What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher. Loved it! Second book by this author recently & quickly moving into auto-buy territory.
