Recently, The Custodian has been real anxious about "making money" and nothing The Astronomer has, so far, said or done has been able to placate this. So he has elected to take her on a little field trip where money is one of the prizes. They call it a "rescue mission".

he opens his right eye only for the big spells, really....because that void goop is kinda...raw, cosmic energy. Or something. It's where the magic is stored.

His right eye is actually an empty socket. He tries to keep it closed most of the time, because sometimes the void goop deep down inside of him--the most -him- part of himself--will try to escape up, out through his skull. It disrespects gravity and wants to rejoin the stars.

Actually, neither he NOR she are quite sure about what's going on with her whole situation, nor what it might mean for the nature of their relationship...a lot of what she does and feels seems compulsory to her role as The Custodian...but The Astronomer chooses to believe they'd be pals regardless.

When he first emerged, the only person there for him was his Custodian, and he was very happy to make her aquaintence. She...seemed less so--but she takes good care of him!! And--she's been warming up to him quickly...in her own way.

He's not sure what happened, but he's pretty sure his current situation has been handed to him as a gift. Something went wrong, he should have fully perished. Instead, he's been given a mortal life to live out and fully experience, and he thinks that's pretty neat, actually.

See, he's been cooking for an indeterminate amount of time in The Observatory. He was -supposed- to be something else--something with the capacity to aid the Goddess Desna in "charting that stars and making sure they maintain their course." Something less coporeal...and definately not mortal.
November 25, 2025 at 2:28 PM
He's not super bothered about this because he wasn't -supposed- the be human to begin with. He literally emerged a few months ago waaaayyyy undercooked. As a human mortal man. -That- was weird. The antaenna are actually a step in the right direction, honestly.

Starting with the basics!
he's an Oracle of Cosmos! Human!! Or--he assumed he was, until the antennae appeared early one morning after he shed is skin in a single piece like a cicada. Just cracked the back and wriggled out.

We walked through an impossible underground desert. EXCEPT IT WASN'T A DESERT. IT WAS AN ARTIFICIAL ENCLOSURE for aliens. Unfortunately, who ever was in charge of their pet alien's husbandry has really, really neglected it for a long time, and now all the livestock is...was...undead. Just dead, now.
