New York has elected a mayor that ran on a platform of putting people ahead of corporate interests and billionaires.

It should not be surprising to see that this is a popular message, but for some people (*cough - Labor*) it seems a foreign concept.

Are we supposed to act like it’s normal for Chevron & BHP to be supporting Labor's ‘environment’ laws, while climate, enviro orgs criticise them?

Labor are yet again caving to their corporate donors and fossil fuel mates.

We need laws that work for nature, not big business.

A historic moment as Treaty passes Vic Parliament, the first time in our history that a Treaty has been enshrined in law.

To those who have fought for this - thankyou.

This must act as a guiding light towards federal truth, Treaty & justice for all First Nations people.

Here’s Greens leader @larissawaters.bsky.social on This is Why We Can’t Have (More) Nice Things. Why is poverty deepening while privilege grows? Why does a nurse pay a higher proportion of tax than someone with $10m in a SMSF? Big biz and billionaires have built an echo chamber entrenching inequity.

UN Chief Antonio Guterres says it is “inevitable” we will miss our Paris climate targets. This will have devastating consequences for us here in Australia as well as vulnerable communities around the world.

We must change course.

As the first Treaty makes its way through the Victorian parliament, this is a historic moment for us all.

With the votes of our @victoriangreens.bsky.social colleagues, this Treaty legislation will pass.

Shameful. 12 First Nations people have died in NSW custody this year - the highest annual total ever.

These are not just ‘profoundly distressing’ statistics.

This devastating loss of life continues Australia’s history of colonial violence through the ‘justice’ system.

BUSTED: coal giant Adani dodged $400m in dues by fudging coal prices!

Billionaire Gautam Adani (wanted for fraud in the US) can’t get away with pushing up bills and giving nothing back.

Every tax dollar rich coal corps don’t pay is one stolen from schools & hospitals who need it.

The data is in - Labor delivering for the big end of town rather than helping people is damaging our wellbeing.

Today’s stats from AIHW should be a wake-up call for the Albanese Govt, on housing and on women’s safety. Australia again has the highest gender gap in feeling safe of 38 OECD countries.

The Victorian LNP’s vow to repeal Treaty is an attack on First Peoples’ right to self-determination.

We’ve seen similar hostile attacks from the LNP on truth telling in QLD.

The Greens will always work with community towards truth, treaty, justice and reparations.
October 15, 2025 at 3:02 AM
Outrageous to learn in #estimates that most of the federal $5.8 mil allocated to truth-telling wasn’t spent, and was then cancelled, and now NIAA are not working on truth or treaties, and have just half an FTE to monitor work by states and territories.

DFAT has now confirmed Australians and others have been abused by Israeli authorities after their abduction from the flotilla.

Assaulted and injured. Deprived of sleep and medication. Still illegally detained.

The PM and Foreign Minister must urgently demand their safe release.

I am so sad to hear of Jane Goodall’s passing, she was an absolute icon.

Few have done more for conservation & enviro protection than she did during her life.

Above all, she taught us that we must have hope. "Hope is what enables us to keep going in the face of adversity"

Labor’s deposit scheme will turbocharge the housing crisis, drive prices up and lock out first-home buyers or plunge them into debt.

Their cowardly refusal to fix tax settings that turn housing into speculation instead of a human right is smashing first-home buyers & renters.

It is an indictment on Labor to have chosen a weak, unambitious and deadly climate target while First Nations people in this country already bear the brunt of extreme heat.

Labor knows their 62% target will lock in >2°C warming and heat will continue to kill and displace people.
September 29, 2025 at 3:48 AM
Coal and gas corporations will love Labor’s utter failure of a climate target.

UPDATE: also unclear if the Treasurer was briefed by the scientists on the climate risk report.

Maybe it's easier to keep signing off on coal and gas projects when you bury your head in the sand.

If we see a weak climate target announced by Labor this week - this is why.
#breaking The PM was not briefed directly on the climate risk report despite being about to set Australia’s 2035 targets.

He didn’t ask for a briefing from the scientists.

The Prime Minister is at the Pacific Islands Forum, where Pacific nations are on the frontline of the climate crisis.

They have called many times for Australia to stop opening new coal & gas.

But this Gov listens to its fossil fuel donors over our Pacific neighbours.
September 11, 2025 at 4:06 AM
Low climate targets benefit coal & gas company profits, while the rest of us pay for their damage.

With mega-polluter Woodside on the BCA board, it isn't hard to connect the dots.

We need a plan to phase out coal & gas + net zero by 2035 like the science demands.
