I know starter can be kept in the refrigerator and re-awkened. I need to research the directions for that. also heard of people storing dried statrter! that would be ideal

I never have wanted to bother with it but I see that I'm running out of yeast. otherwise I'd stick to what I already know. hopefully the starter will get going! I'm the type to forget to feed it

instant yeast, as long as it's relatively fresh, doesn't need to be proofed in the liquid ingredients first. can just mix into your dry ingredients and proceed with the mixing

well that seems like a good sign! I'm making starter for the first time. it's day 3. trusting the process. it smells like...? not sourdough but not mold so that's good

nice! I'm just forcing myself to make a sourdough starter for the 1st time (running out of yeast for baking) & don't want to throw away flour mix every day. mine isn't "started" yet it's just a jar of flour sludge. day 3
