The VA/mocap did a tremendous job with her (you could read her perfectly despite not seeing her face during the Mines) and I'm glad the character is getting some appreciation.

And here is the climatic end, no idea if he would've reactivated had I let go off the wall, should've tested it honestly.

Hopefully it comes with a tutorial to help people being less miserable.

Nice! Any one in particular picked your interest?

Hi, Lanusensei here! I like to do 3D printed figures, I've covered a variety of Metroid titles with my work, and I'm very much looking forward to making all kinds of stuff with Beyond's characters and creatures.

The negativity on social media and forums has reached Federation Force levels of bad, it's quite astonishing.

That's the interesting part, on social media it's a shitfest over the mechanic guy, just scroll a bit in bsky with a Metroid tag and it's all doom, but if you look at the comment section of the overview trailer it's all in good faith banter.

I wonder if they are planning to just... ignore all the explosions going around their PR of this game or will attempt to save face sometime in the coming days. MCU guy is probably 2% of the game's total playtime but it seems people have (understandably) gotten pretty apprehensive of the whole game.

He also has a bunch of voicelines over coms, he is quite "early game Nintendo tutorial character" coded. I don't need the guy explained to me, I understand how insignificant he is in the grand scheme. Most people don't sadly.
November 16, 2025 at 6:44 PM
Yeah, anyone that has played Prime 3 (the game that comes before this one) should be aware of the direction the series is going. But the guy is definitely more in your face with his quips, so it's going to be interesting how he and the other soldiers turn out.

I think that my only question on this is, if this genuinely blindsided anyone at Retro or Nintendo. With games like Gollum or Forspoken, and even internal stuff like Other M and Federation Force, it shouldn't be a surprise.
November 16, 2025 at 6:03 PM
It's exactly the same as Prime 3, Samus doesn't talk to anyone talking to her. People should not be surprised by any of this.
Retro's Metroids go for the worldbuilding, not Samus' inner thoughts.
November 16, 2025 at 5:35 PM
I won't judge anyone for not vibing with any of this, because I also consider Prime 1 one of the best games ever because it does not try to be anything else than Metroid in an FPS/A frame. But I do yearn for more than just the first game with a gimmick. Prime is the experimental side of Metroid.

That is the funny thing to me, when they started showing things that are more out there, the more interested I became. The bike is the most versatile power up Retro Studios has ever made, I don't need to play to know this. The NPCs also struggling to survive make the world more real.
November 16, 2025 at 2:26 PM
Metroid exists to diversify Nintendo's portfolio so it doesn't appeal to the exact same people that buy Mario and Pokemon. Launching is all the game has to do to fulfill Nintendo's expectations. If it doesn't do hotly, they'll course correct the next one (like the Mercury Steam troids after Other M)
November 16, 2025 at 1:22 PM
It never was going to be, none of Prime's offshoots are like it, and Corruption already showed a lot of new stuff Retro and Tanabe couldn't achieve on Wii (like NPCs quests).
MCU guy is a 20 minute tutorial given human form, and that's more or less all there is to the guy in a 20 or more hour game.
November 16, 2025 at 1:12 PM
Well, it is insight from 2005ish, a couple of years before Other M began development, so it tracks.

The Nintendo reps at the event told to these journalists he wouldn't tag along after his one segment. Totilio even reported he will set up camp in a safe area and become a static NPC (til the final push.)
