Day 3 is a favourite of ours! Not only has @emmabeansworth.bsky.social shown us genome rearrangements are another type of #variation to watch for in #bacterial #genomics & all the possible pathogenic phenotypes these rearrangements change

And... today is Em's gateway into Christmas jumper month+...

And finally at @microbesng.bsky.social #MNGPopUp our @nisbetalice.bsky.social is chairing the last session including the keynote from @pathogenomenick.bsky.social titled “Pathogen surveillance through #metagenomics: the next frontier?" Looking forward to some more great #Genomics #ECR talks first!
July 3, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Next up from our group at @microbesng.bsky.social #MNGPopUp is @nisbetalice.bsky.social talking about #genomic insights into #ParatyphiA carriage, providing key evidence showing that this serovar must be studied as an unique pathogen and not be bundle together with other typhoidal #salmonella!
July 3, 2025 at 1:15 PM
Next up from our group at @microbesng.bsky.social #MNGPopUp is Claire Hill talking about a novel pipeline she has developed for analysis of Transposon Insertion Sequencing #TraDIS data which looks at the raw signal to gain information of essentiality in absence of a fully annotate genome! 🤩🧬
July 3, 2025 at 10:32 AM
First up from our group at #MNGPopUp is @stevenrudder.bsky.social about his work on improving High Molecular Weight DNA extraction from stool for @nanoporetech.com's long read sequencing using Revolugen's FireMonkey kit.

Who knew you could great such great 🧬 from 💩 for clinical #ONT diagnostics!
July 3, 2025 at 9:56 AM
And an amazing talk to kick off @microbesng.bsky.social #MNGPopUp by Leanne Sims @quadraminstitute.bsky.social with a talk on engineering Shewanella oneidensis to recover precious platinum group metals at a large industrial scale from waste!

Also a nice surprise for our @emmabeansworth.bsky.social to win an award for her poster showing that variations caused by genomic rearrangements can turn #virulence and #AMR on & off, just like SNPs! Its a honour for the group's communication skills be recognised by this #academic community
June 25, 2025 at 3:01 PM
Our @nisbetalice.bsky.social gave an awesome final & award winning talk at #I3Scongress showing 20 years of #typhoidal #Salmonella in England & Wales. Amazing achievement for her 1st ever international talk. Keep an eye out for this publication coming soon, in collaboration with @ukhsa.bsky.social
