Stay on the offensive consistently. Highlight your wins, where you helped, how you handle certain situations. The biggest mistake I have seen is not having additional questions/feedback for the manager to consider. Don’t be afraid to ask a tough question (with tact of course!) #avintheam #avtweeps

Q3: Inter-personal skills for sure. The ability to make others feel good and want to work with you. Could be the customer, your teammates, adjacent departments, other trades, etc. Be nice, help where able, help diffuse an emotional situation, all these skills are very valuable. #avintheam #avtweeps

Q2: Documenting anything is a great start! As a rookie, I would document any situation where you feel like you were thrown into a situation uncomfortably or without much support. Those “sink or swim” moments. Don’t be shy to let them know how much you come through for the team. #avintheam #avtweeps

Q1: Throughput. Everyone has a story to tell, throughput is the proof in the pudding. This is how much you’re getting done. This is a big part of the value within the sum of the parts. Quantified so that bean counters and adjacent business units can understand too #avintheam #avtweeps

I’ve seen more of a movement away from these spaces. They are typically tailored to a certain person/team, once that team changes, the room/space tends to go unused or to bare minimum usage. #avintheam #avtweeps

The only shortening I’ve seen is the industry adapting to android based hardware platforms. Main constant is if you live on the bleeding edge of tech, lifecycles are shorter. #avintheam #avtweeps

A free standing DVLED wall in the middle of a manufacturing plant floor. IP ratings, welding steel supports, designing audio so the system would actually be useful. I love how many engineering disciplines come together to make projects like this a reality. #AVinTheAM #AVtweeps #AVFriendsgiving

Treat it like a legit different language. Speak clearly, don’t use buzzwords, stick to common words, listen for cues of uncertainty in dialogue. Speak in a relatable manner, encourage questions, pause for questions. Repeat yourself as needed until the aha moment hits. #avintheam #avtweeps

How much of this lies with tech managers? C-level bears the bulk of this, but it takes two to tango. If they aren’t selling their value and managing up properly, they are contributing to the race to the bottom as well #avintheam
