Oh yum!

Unfortunately not. Alas!

It doesn’t feel natural I guess is what I mean, it feels forced.

Not really. I mean I think the idea of trying to use revenants is an interesting tactic and I thought he and Guy definitely had a fun dynamic (I love when enemies team up!) but the way he talks and his whole attitude just feel like they don’t fit, like they’re plastered on there to make him “cool.”

I agree but sadly, this is also how I feel about Show Daniel, I’m sorry! I’m too much of a book Daniel Stan and idk who this guy is 😭🥺

Right? Like the impression from the show--and maybe this is true in the show--is that they're all constantly backstabbing and betraying the Order and each other, which... how does the Order even function at all if that's the case??

Yes!! That would have been a really good way to go!

100% - although Marius would probably be the artist of at least some of them

Really solid characterization of David and honestly of how the Talamasca works.
November 23, 2025 at 7:56 PM
Exactly, there's so little supernatural here except that some characters happen to be vampires (and witches I guess although that doesn't seem to have much impact either). So much wasted potential, really.

Anyhow, if you want to know more about the Talamasca Anne Rice created, I highly recommend Queen of the Damned (but it is best to read TVL first). Jesse Reeves' story is a great introduction to the Talamasca and it's very compelling. Or The Witching Hour also features the Talamasca prominently.

Talamasca agents are curious people who want to understand the world around them and who collect information to further that understanding. There's a lot of cool stuff you can do with that premise without having to make them devious, evil, or attempting to control vampires and witches.
November 23, 2025 at 7:16 PM
It is not dangerous because they are evil spies who are gathering intel to blackmail witches and vampires. It's dangerous because it's easy to get too close to the supernatural and be hurt or killed in the process. They have rules to prevent this but it doesn't always work.
November 23, 2025 at 7:15 PM
And why does the Talamasca want more vampires? People they can control????? I'm so confused! #talamascaspoilers
November 23, 2025 at 6:44 PM
So many questions, but really it just boils down to bad writing that isn't doing anything with the source material it has and also isn't managing to create anything original that's compelling enough to be a show.

... it was really convoluted and it didn't really think a lot of things through - why is Guy being psychic so important if it's not a power that gets used in any meaningful way? Why does London Guy suddenly decide to push back - murder was not too far for him before! #talamascaspoilers
