On February 18, 1959, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King, were greeted in Delhi by the Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The Kings met with a Jayaprakash Narayan who had committed his life to anti-poverty work, and Rajendra Prasad, the President of India.

Jackie Robinson inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962 was closely allied with Dr King. “Both were awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and a Congressional Gold Medal. They were freedom fighters putting their lives at risk for the good of the oppressed.”
