I'm grateful to share my chat with Silicon Republic as my first post on Bluesky.

Long story short: The AI horse IS bolting. But we can run with it. FORSEE aims to do just that!
Our own @elizabethfarries.bsky.social spoke with Silicon Republic about the new Horizon Europe funded project, FORSEE, and its aims to create safe and reliable AI policies and regulations, check out the link below.

Yeehaw!

The horse may have bolted, but that just means we have to ride out and catch it, says Dr Elizabeth Farries, whose new project aims to create policies for safer AI development.

MIT has a set of books labelled "Open Access" but it's a little clunky to find them on the MIT Press site, and so I've gone ahead and mirrored 400+ of them here:

Could "sitting on the fence" for some policies be a strategy to attract floating voters? whichcandidate.ie and Vote Smart tools have been popular with voters in #GE24. Some voters we surprised at unexpected matches. But why? WhichCandidate.ie uses a four-option preference system. #ge #GEIreland 1/6

AI can bring benefits but we must find the appropriate use cases. We can’t do that without having some understanding of the tech. Firm wide AI literacy, mandated by the EU AI Act is a start. Art 4 is in force 2 February 2025

A timely article. TLDR? Here's my neat summary:

"...we risk producing minds that are primed to accept neatly summarized information at face value rather than question it, analyze it from multiple angles, and draw their own nuanced conclusions."

Insightful article alert🚨& discussion on AI-assisted reading! AI reading assistants are being sold to students as the ultimate time-savers, but at what cost? Here’re my thoughts prompted by the article: marcwatkins.substack.com/p/no-one-is-... #AIedu #eduSKY 1/5
No One is Talking About AI's Impact on Reading
What does it mean when we stop reading texts and instead offload that skill to AI?
