NEW: this morning the Trump admin moved to terminate legal status for ~20,000 people:

- Temporary Protected Status for Ethiopia, in place since 2022, with ~5,000 beneficiaries
- Family Reunification Parole Programs, in place since 2023 and some legacy cases from earlier, covering ~15,000 people.

After Javier Muñoz was put in immigration detention and not allowed to bathe or change clothes for days at a time, he began feeling excruciating pain in his genitalia. A judge ordered his release and chronicled the graphic details of what happened.

Jubilant day for Joel Camas, the 16-year-old from the Bronx detained by ICE last month. Judge Cathy Seibel ordered his release, and he has just been reunited with his uncle. In court, Seibel lamented that migrant "kids are getting held for six months even though they have a safe place to go"

16 year old Bronx kid is released from custody today. He was grabbed in court by ICE on October 23rd. His mom already self-deported back to Ecuador in the hope of protecting her son.

There will still be a battle because ICE still wants to deport him.

BIG news for Texas. State troopers in Texas will now have the authority to make immigration arrests, same as ICE and Border Patrol.

Whether this means all state troopers, or only a subset of officers, will get trained and authorized to carry out this duty remains to be seen.
NEW: The notorious 287(g) task force program has finally reached the Texas Department of Public Safety, raising fears of widespread racial profiling.

In other words: Texas is deputizing some of its state officers to act as roving ICE agents.
