I like this art of a planned Soviet space station model, from a 1970s East German children's book.
Art depicting a Soviet space station concept floating in space, with 6 sections connected to a central hub, and cut-outs of 2 parts of the station showing parts of interior rooms with people in them. On the outside of the central part is a red star and the letters "CCCP". In the top left of the image are words in German describing the station. Translated into English, they say: "With this model, the Soviets presented their planned space station. It will be considerably larger than the American stations and will contain a laboratory, experimental gardens, living quarters, an observatory, radar installations, and presumably a nuclear power plant. A comparison of this model with similar designs in Western scientific literature reveals a surprise: The position of the floors in the rooms and the arrangement of the radar screens on the ring suggest that the Soviet station is not intended to rotate, meaning that the generation of an artificial gravitational field is not planned. However, there is another possibility: The model does not exactly correspond to the construction plans. Perhaps for reasons of secrecy, or simply because the model makers gave their imaginations too much free rein..."

I just got this book, Kani Kōsen, translated as The Crab Cannery Ship in English, by Takiji Kobayashi. The author was a communist and a writer of proletarian literature novels in Japan in the 1930s. I plan to start reading this soon, after I finish reading the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson.

You know China is doing well when even The Economist is no longer trying to claim their economy is failing.

Disco Elysium is one of my favorite video games, and this is one of my favorite moments from that game.
