Teen heartthrob Nolan struggles with off-script conversations.

Former tween star Phoebe can't escape the tabloids.

When they're cast as LIs in a superhero comic adaptation, they'll fight the straight-washing of a canonically ace character.
And their feelings for each other.

I started #MockPit a literal decade ago on Twitter, when there was still a 140 character limit. Publishing has changed a lot since then, and I discontinued the event a few years ago as a lot of pitch contests started to fold.

I couldn't be more excited that #RevPit is bringing it back.

Fresh Banana Leaves: Healing Indigenous Landscapes through Indigenous Science by Jessica Hernandez (Maya Ch’orti’ and Zapotec)

An insightful nonfiction read for those wanting to decolonize their thinking about environmentalism.

Just finished Love is a War Song by Danica Nava (Chickasaw) and loved it as much as her debut.

The heroines of both books are messy and flawed in really real and relatable ways. And the chemistry is off the charts. Both great options for Indigenous Peoples Month reads.

Book rec: Red Paint by Sasha taqwéseblu LaPointe (Coast Salish)

"Sasha offers up an unblinking reckoning with personal traumas amplified by the collective historical traumas of colonialism and genocide that continue to haunt native peoples."

Soup 11: Costco Chicken Noodle

I'm partial to the homemade but this was pretty good! Gotta throw some classic soups in the mix after all.

Soup 10: Zupa toscana

Boyfriend has decided he's very into Souptober and made this one. It had a little more kick than he intended, but I liked it.

The horrors persist, but so does the crafting

It's #AceWeek so a little teaser for the book I hope to send on sub soon, in which two co-stars in a high budget comic book adaptation fight the straightwashing of a canonically ace character... and their feelings for each other.

Soup 9: buffalo white bean

This is a crockpot staple for me because it's easy, cheap, uses mostly shelf stable ingredients, and has fiber.

#AceWeek book rec: The Summer of Bitter and Sweet by Jen Ferguson

This is a poignant coming of age story about a biracial Métis/white demisexual teen.

Jen has such a talent for writing real teens with messy lives, and I also reccommend Those Pink Mountain Nights!

#AceWeek book rec: Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman

The daughter of circus performers runs away to a rival circus where she will be able to train as an aerialist.

Soup 8: Butternut squash

This was tasty, but pretty similar to the pumpkin one I make and slightly more effort because it had to be blended. Still good though!

#AceWeek book rec: Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger

An aroace Lipan Apache teen with the ability to speak to ghosts investigates the death of her cousin when his ghost claims his death was a murder, not an accident.

Soup 5: Mac and Cheese soup

A little experimental. This was good but pretty rich and I wished I had some bread or something to go with. Still a win though!

Soup 4: Red curry ramen soup

This is just elevated ramen for an easy meal, but the pinterest recipe called it soup so I'm counting it.

Soup 3: Crab chowder

New recipe, instantly entering the Souptober hall of fame. I used imitation crab that I airfried and added to some veggies, broth, and cream that I'd had in the crockpot. The cajun seasoning makes this.

Soup 2: Curried pumpkin

This is potentially my favorite soup I make. Really easy, mostly uses shelf stable ingredients, and it's so warm and creamy without being too heavy.

Soup 1: Roasted Red Pepper

This is a new recipe for me. I liked it! A kindred spirit to tomato soup.

Freydis has also been notoriously antagonistic towards the ace community, so might I specifically recommend Kiss Me, Maybe (starring an ace protagonist) by Gabriella Gamez.

Plus, this cover is stunning.

The art I got from Ayumi is cute beyond all reason. 10/10 recommend.
