I getcha, I generally play windowed mode so I tend to not look too much into the difference but I see where scaling looks awful at games only built at 1080p

The 13 year old monitor is still functional but yeah, the colors being washed out was crazy and I can see the difference!
I had to use a VGA->DP adapter on the monitor with the busted HDMI port. Worked for as long as it did until black friday deals started popping up.
